The Prom
Written By: Marti Noxon

The relationship between Buffy and Angel carries on its turbulent course. Buffy wakes up next to him after a rather longer than expected nap she slept right through, instead of going home. Meanwhile, Xander also has romantic thought on his mind in the shape of his Prom date, who turns out to be Anya. The rest of the gang are just as obsessed with the Prom, and this causes Giles difficulty trying to keep them focused on the Ascension. After a set of dreams involving his wedding to Buffy that culminates in her exploding into flames, Angel talks to her and admits what he has been thinking of. Angel feels they should break up as they can have no real life or future together.
On the other hand, Xander sees Cordelia viewing wedding dresses in a shop, and despite her attempts to disguise it, he realises she is working there as her family are now penniless. Their conversation is cut short by a demon smashing into the store, tossing Xander aside while making straight for a well-groomed boy in a tuxedo.
After explaining what happened to his friends, the gang starts pouring over the CCTV tapes of the scene. The gang realises there is someone behind the attack. Upon checking a yearbook, the group quickly finds out that it is Tucker Wells, and Buffy heads off in pursuit. After discovering Tucker’s plans to use the hounds to destroy the Prom and all the students, Buffy returns to the school and dispatches each hound in turn. Buffy’s reward for her efforts and selflessness earn her the Class Protector award and also a last dance with Angel.
